“Since 1959, each year we put on one of Shakespeare’s plays in the outdoor Jacobean courtyard of The George Hotel, selling out to over 2,000 people every year, and this year we are performing Richard III. The performances always include a Hearing Loop, but since 2014 we have involved “Stagetext” for one performance (basically an LED display with subtitles) for the hard of hearing, and this years’ captioned performance will be on Tuesday 3rd July. We, SatG, were the second amateur company in the country to offer such a facility for an open-air Shakespeare production, providing local deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people the opportunity to enjoy live theatre in the unique setting of the George’s Jacobean courtyard.” Simon Maylor Simon, Publicity Trustee.
